My plan for Chester
As Chester’s MP, I will never stop fighting to make sure local people can get on in life.
I will also never stop fighting for our city.
My Plan for Chester sets out my vision for the first few years as your MP, standing up for you in Westminster and helping you get through the Conservative’s cost of living crisis. I will also secure the investment our city needs to create jobs, grow our economy and help our city thrive.
I have always put Chester first. I am loyal to our city, it is my home and it is where my heart is.
This is my Plan for Chester.
Stand up for Chester residents through the Conservative cost of living crisis.
Family finances are squeezed in every direction. I will be your voice in Parliament, fighting for action on the cost of living crisis and making sure Chester’s residents don’t get left behind.
Make Chester a top retail and tourism destination, including recognition for our historic Rows as a world heritage site.
As town centres across the UK fall behind, there is an opportunity for Chester to became a world class retail, culture, and heritage destination. I will campaign for world heritage status for Chester’s Rows as the country’s oldest shopping centre.
Bring Chester’s buses back into public control and restore frequent, reliable trains for the city
Labour in power in Liverpool and Manchester are bringing buses back under public control and the next Labour Government would give places like Chester the ability to do it too. I will also fight to bring back direct train services for commuters and visitors in Chester and the next Labour Government will renationalise our railways.
Protect Chester’s Groves and stop raw sewage dumping into the River Dee.
I have already led work locally which has reduced sewage dumping at The Groves and I will fight to end all sewage discharging in the River Dee.
Return to neighbourhood policing with more bobbies on the beat to tackle anti-social behaviour on our streets.
I will work closely with our local policing team to crack down on anti-social behaviour and keep our communities safe.
