Blacon Cemetery Community Clean Up
Blacon Cemetery Community Clean Up

Residents, local councillors and Samantha Dixon MP gottogether on Saturday, 6th June, to help tidy and improve Blacon Cemetery as part of a community clean-up marking World Environment Day.

Volunteers of all ages spent the morning clearing litter, tidying public spaces and helping make the cemetery a cleaner, greener and more welcoming place for visitors and local families.

The event brought together members of the community alongside local councillors and Samantha Dixon MP, demonstrating the strong local community spirit.

Samantha Dixon MP thanked everyone who took part and gave up their time to support the clean-up.

Speaking after the event, Samantha said:

“Blacon Cemetery is a special place for so many Cestrians. It was fantastic to see people come together to help care for Blacon Cemetery and mark World Environment Day. The community spirit on display was wonderful, with residents, councillors and volunteers all working side by side to make a real difference.

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to come along and help out. Whether you picked up litter, helped clear pathways or simply gave an hour of your time, your contribution made a difference.

“Events like this show what can be achieved when people come together with pride in their local area. Blacon Cemetery is an important place for many families, and it was great to see the community working together to help keep it clean, green and welcoming for all.”

The clean-up follows Samantha’s continued commitment to supporting local environmental initiatives and encouraging community action across Chester North and Neston.
