UK Parliament Week (UKPW) was celebrated across Chester North and Neston last week, with 36 local organisations signing up to take part in the annual event. This year’s UKPW saw more than 19,000 schools, youth groups, and community organisations across the UK get involved, marking the biggest UK Parliament Week yet, with over 2.5 million people taking part.
UK Parliament Week gives people the opportunity to learn about the work of Parliament, how it impacts daily life, and how they can get involved. It also celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the launch of the UK Government and Parliament e-petitions website, which has empowered the public to raise the issues that matter most to them.
As part of the week, local MP Samantha Dixon attended a number of schools and organisations across Chester North and Neston, including First Upton Guides, Neston Primary School, and Mill View Primary School.
Speaking about her visits, Samantha Dixon said:
“It was wonderful to see so many young people getting stuck in and learning about how our democracy works. UK Parliament Week is a fantastic opportunity for them to engage with the democratic process, and I was pleased to see such enthusiasm across the constituency. It’s so important young people understand how Parliament affects their lives and how they can make their voices heard.”

Local schools, youth groups, and community organisations played a vital role in making this year’s UKPW a success, with many taking part in fun, informative activities designed to inspire future generations to get involved and make their voices heard.
