This week, thousands of young people across our community have opened envelopes to find out results for their GCSEs  – and this time last week, many more did the same for their A-Levels, T-levels and level 3 technical and vocational qualifications. To every single one of you: congratulations! These moments mark the end of years of hard work, determination, and resilience – and they’re the beginning of exciting new chapters in your lives.

No matter what grades you’ve received, there are bright futures ahead. Some of you will be heading to university, some starting apprenticeships or training, and others beginning work. Whatever path you take, know that your skills, creativity, and determination are the foundations of our community’s future.

Here in Chester North and Neston, we are lucky to have so many talented young people – from aspiring engineers and teachers to artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs. I’ve met many of you through school visits, youth groups, and community projects, and I’m inspired every time by your energy and ideas.

That’s why our Labour Government is determined to make sure opportunity is open to all. We’re rolling out school-based nurseries and breakfast clubs, extending free school meals to over half a million more children – putting £500 a year back in parents’ pockets and capping the cost of school uniforms. We’re investing in teachers, rebuilding schools, and tackling persistent absence so every child can thrive. And investing £22.5 million over three years to create a tailored sports, art and music offer in up to 400 schools.

Beyond the classroom, we’re rebuilding youth services after a decade of cuts. Our new £88 million Building Creative Futures package will fund after-school activities, improve youth club spaces, and expand groups like the Scouts, Guides, and Cadets – giving young people safe spaces to grow, discover new interests, and gain the life skills they need. The Youth Guarantee Trailblazers scheme will also help thousands of 18- to 21-year-olds into education, training, or work, alongside a £1.2 billion boost to skills training.

And because your voices matter, Labour is committed to extending the vote to 16- and 17-year-olds – recognising that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but changemakers today.

So to all of you receiving results this summer, be proud of what you’ve achieved, look forward with confidence, and know that your community are here to help you reach your potential. Your future is bright – and together, we can make it even brighter.
