Samantha Dixon, Member of Parliament for Chester North and Neston hosted a special charity walking tour through the heart of Chester, raising vital funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
The tour, brought to life by the expert guidance of Isabel from Chester’s outstanding Visitor Information Centre, was both an educational and uplifting experience, celebrating the rich history and heritage of our beautiful city. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, which provides vital, compassionate end-of-life care to patients and families across Cheshire West & Chester.
Speaking after the event, Samantha Dixon MP said:
“A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the walking tour. It was a fantastic event — we raised funds for a truly important cause and uncovered some of the hidden stories of our historic city along the way.
“I want to give a special thank you to Isabel, our brilliant tour guide, and to everyone at the Visitor Information Centre who does such brilliant work welcoming people to Chester with warmth and enthusiasm.
“The Hospice of the Good Shepherd plays a vital role in our community, and it was wonderful to support their work with such a positive, community-spirited event.”
“This was a brilliant initiative,” said Hospice of Good Shepherd Head of Fundraising Justin Caroe.
“Those who took part clearly learned many new things about our amazing city. At the same time theuy generated some welcome additional funding which will enable our amazing team of doctors and nurses to continue helping local people to live the last chapter of their lives to the fullest, supporting loves ones every step of the way.”
Isabel Robertson who led the charity tour added:
“It was a real pleasure and a privilege to show just some of the reasons why Chester is great and for such a brilliant cause in the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Being able to visit Stanley Palace was also a real thrill.
“I am very fortunate in having such a great team to work with in the Visitor Information Centre. The team in the Visitor Centre work all year round to welcome visitors from all over the world and enjoy talking about Chester — its places, people and history and all that it has to offer.”
