Last week, I had the privilege of welcoming residents to my Housing and Support & Information Fayre. This event, the largest of its kind to date, was a tremendous success and provided an invaluable opportunity for local residents to access advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, from housing to financial support and mental health services.
Housing remains the number one issue that constituents contact me about, and I fully understand the pressures it places on individuals and families in our community. Whether it’s dealing with a mouldy property, securing affordable accommodation, understanding housing rights, or navigating financial difficulties, housing is a primary concern for many. However, I am pleased that the Labour Government is committed to addressing the housing crisis head-on. With plans to deliver 1.5 million new homes, including affordable housing, we are taking crucial steps to tackle the shortage and improve housing conditions across the country.
A wide cross section of organisations, including the Job Centre, Citizens Advice, Cheshire Police, Sanctuary Housing, Dial West Cheshire, Tomorrow’s Women, West Cheshire Foodbank, and others, came together to provide much-needed support.
Housing providers, local councillors and my dedicated team were on hand to discuss housing issues directly with residents, offering tailored advice and guidance. It was heartening to see so many people engaging with the services and experts available, and the positive feedback we received highlights the importance of events such as this.
I want to extend my sincere thanks to all the organisations that participated. Your dedication and expertise are invaluable to our community, and I am grateful for your continued support. A huge thank you as well to everyone who attended. You are what makes these events a success and ensures that we can continue to improve access to vital services.
For those who couldn’t attend but need help or advice, please don’t hesitate to contact my office. My team and I are here to help. You can reach me by emailing samantha.dixon.mp@parliament.uk or calling 01244 343 229.
Together, we’ll continue working to make sure everyone in our community has access to the support they need, and that the housing challenges we face are met with real, tangible solutions.
