Happy New Year! I’d like to wish everyone across Chester North and Neston a very happy 2025.

As the new year begins, many of us look to new beginning and set ourselves new goals. This often comes in the form of healthier eating, being more organised or dedicating more time to exercise, exploring new sports, or simply prioritising quality time outdoors.

I am pleased that Chester will soon have even more ways to help achieve these resolutions, with the brilliant development of the new Northgate Arena. Thanks to investment from Cheshire West and Chester Council, the much-loved community hub is currently undergoing a major makeover that will create a state-of-the-art hub for health, fitness, and community engagement.

On the subject of sport, recently, Chester’s very own Amelia from Upton High School celebrated winning the 2024 U.S. Netball Open Championships in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the Cheshire County Netball U17 squad. This is a remarkable triumph. May this victory be the first of many sporting achievements in Chester North and Neston in 2025.

It is also important to look back and reflect on the lessons we can learn from the year just gone.

I look back at 2024 with gratitude having been elected as the first Member of Parliament for the new constituency of Chester North and Neston. Thank you for your support. I firmly believe I represent the best constituency in the country.

I am proud that over the last year, my hard-working team and I have dealt with more than 6,000 cases, responded to over 14,000 individual pieces of correspondence, spoken to hundreds of residents and attended regular meetings with local stakeholders, including five River Dee and Estuary summits.

Last year, we marked an important milestone as my hard-working team of caseworkers and I put more than £1 million back into constituents’ pockets. I am pleased to see the money owed to people being given back to them.

As we look ahead to 2025, there are many things to look forward to.

The new Government is talking to local leaders about a potential devolution deal for our region which will include ambitious plans to further strengthen our local economy, improve public transport links, and continue to support work to protect or environment and heritage for future generations.

In 2025, I will continue standing up for everyone who lives in Chester North and Neston, supporting you in any way I can and delivering the best for our local area.
